Description - Welcome to Garment school! We will be working with Merchant and Mills beginner patterns. The focus is on technique and construction in this four part class series while creating garments you will be proud to wear! Students will make a drawstring trouser with a false fly and real pockets. This classic pant sits at the natural waist. Next, we will move on to a classic tee shirt constructed with a woven fabric body and knit neckband, pocket, and optional roll up sleeve.

Skill Level - Beginner, You must be able to independently thread your bobbin and sewing machine and know the basics of your machine’s operation.

Fabrics

 - for the trousers: linen, linen blends, tencel, cotton chambray, very fine wool or corduroy. Check the pattern and your measurements for the exact amount you will need

- for the tee shirt: linen, linen blends, tencel, cotton chambray as well as a small amount of stretch knit fabric or ribbing for the neckband. Check the pattern and your measurements for the exact amount you will need

General sewing notions - pins, extra machine needles, scissors, marking pen, seam ripper

Skills learned: basics of garment construction and fit, working with stretch fabric, creating pockets, buttonholes, a drawstring waist, hemming, and a false fly
